The 1992 summer musical in the Victorian Arts Centre was the Stuart Maunder production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s, ‘The Pirates of Penzance’. It opened to great acclaim in November in the 2700+ seat State Theatre.
The production was slick, fast and thanks to the brilliant set design, by Roger Kirk, looked fabulous.

The production became an international hit and toured to the West End in the mid 1990’s with a cast including former VSO Young Artist, Nicholas Todorovic as the Pirate King and a young Australian tenor, Christopher Saunders sang Frederic.
